measuring windows

For accurate measurements please use a metal tape measure, and take measurements in centimetres, to the nearest 0.1cm, or if in imperial to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.

  • All of our blinds can be fixed into the face of the window frame or wall, or into the top of the lintel - allowing you total control of the depth your blind can be positioned in the depth of your window recess.

  • Choose whether you want the blinds to hang inside or outside the window recess.

  •  Please check for the proximity of adjacent walls, furniture, window handles etc. when measuring for your blinds.

Inside window recess

For blinds to hang inside the window recess measure the drop by taking the measurement from the top of the recess to the window sill, in three places as shown above.

Next measure the width of the window recess from wall to wall, in three places as shown above. We will make all the adjustments and allowances so that the blinds fit correctly.

Outside window recess

  • For blinds to hang outside the window recess:

  • Measure the exact area you would like the blind to cover, as shown above, this is the finished blind size.

  • Measure the drop from where the blind is being fixed, to where you would like the blind to finish.

  • Measure the width in three places ensuring equal overlap where possible.

  • Fitting Brackets will vary depending upon the type of fitting requested.

90-degree bay window

For measuring a 90-degree bay window start on the left-hand side of the window and measure clockwise around the window.

Always measure tight into the corners and do not make any allowance as we will do that for you.

  • Starting at position (1) on the diagram above, measure tight into the corner Position (2). Write down the measurement.

  • Next starting at position (2) tight in the corner, measure across to position (3). Write down the measurement.

  • Next start at a position (3) tight in the corner, measure across to position (4). Write down the measurement.

  • The next and final step is to measure the drop of the window. Measure each window separately as the window can run out.

  • We will make all the adjustments and allowances so that the blinds fit correctly
